Paper Title
IN SILICO STUDY FOR PREDICTIVE TOXICITY OF PHYTOCHEMICALS PRESENT IN BACOPA MONNIERI (LINN.)

Abstract
Abstract - The medicinal plant, Bacapa mannieri (Linn.), the extract is commonly used for Alzheimer 's prevention. The objective of the present study was attempted an in silica study for the prediction of toxicity of selected phytochemicals by using ProTox-II online server. In the present study, we selected 9 phytochemicals and 1 synthetic drug for the predictive study. Among 9 phytochemicals, 5 as class V (may be harmful after swallowing), 4 as class IV (harmful after swallowing), 2 as class III (toxic after swallowing) and I as class VI (non-toxic) were obtained. Moreover, none of these were hepatotoxic while 5 were immunotoxic and 2 compounds were cytotoxic and carcinogenic while none of these were found mutagenic. Moreover, in future research this predictive data should be validated with further in vivo and in vitro toxicological assay for confirmation of anti-Alzheimer's compound(s). Sometimes, crude extract may harm the human health. In this regard, the non-toxic lead compound(s) can be used for new drug discovery.
