Polarization Signature of Lagerstroemia Speciosa

Abstract
Mueller Matrix imaging polarimetry system operating in the reflection mode is designed to understand the characteristic polarization effects taking place in sample prepared from the bark of Lagerstroemia speciosa, an Indian medicinal plant commonly known as pride of India. The intensity images captured by this polarimeter are further processed using polar decomposition technique to understand the various polarimetric properties. Image processing algorithms were developed in MatLab platform to understand and obtain the degrees of polarization images and the corresponding mean intensity values. The variations in these values are addressed with respect to the percent of elemental composition in the sample.
