Implementation of DCO based Frequency Synthesizer for Range 276MHz to 1.88GHz
The paper presented here describes an alternative methodology to the existing voltage controlled ring oscillator. It uses different current driven inverters based on digital input selections. The design additionally includes path selection switches which assists in achieving the least and highest frequencies. With the design and implementation of the digital controlled oscillator, a frequency ranges from 276MHz to 1.88GHz with average jitter of 37 pico-seconds is seen. Design is implemented in 180nm technology with voltage supply of 1.8V using cadence design tools.
