The Impact of In-Service Teacher Training Programmes on Curriculum Transaction

Abstract
The present study was conducted to study the impact of In-Service Teacher Training Programs on Curriculum Transaction in respect of on courses of study at secondary level with reference to the contact updation, teaching strategies, use of teaching aids, evaluation strategies and teacher behavior. Because of the method’s apparent ease and directness, descriptive method has undoubtedly been the most popular and widely reach method in education. In the present study data has be collected about what exists at present. This way, the method witch we have used in the present study is the descriptive survey method because it helps to explain educational phenomena in terms of the conditions or relationships that exist, opinions that are held by the students, teacher, parents and experts, processes that are going on, effects that are evident, or trends data developing. 1200 teachers from the four districts out of 12 districts in HP were selected in a random manner to get information by using questionnaire as tool for teachers. Depending upon the analysis and interpretation of data, major findings are – As per the views expressed by majority of teacher, In-Service Teacher Training Programs upgrade knowledge and understating of the content. Regarding methods used by the Teachers, majority of the teachers make use of lector methods and discussion method. Others also use lecture cum demonstration method, project method, play way method and brain storming method. Innovative methods are rarely used but teachers have started using them after getting knowledge about these methods in In-Service Teacher Training Programme. Regarding the use of teaching aids, majority of teachers use teaching aids to make teaching learning process effective. Regarding the type of test used by teachers for evaluating the student, they us, combination of various types of tests as verbal test, written test, essay type and objective type test. So it is concluded that there is great impact of In-service Teacher Training Programme on curriculum transaction in respect of all courses of study at secondary level.
