Design and Simulation of Nature Inspired Crescent Shape Flexible 16 Elements Microstrip Patch Antenna Array for Wireless Application

Abstract
In this work, a crescent shape flexible 16 (4 × 4) element microstrip patch array, using Polyflon Copper-Clad ULTEM (tm) as the substrate is designed and simulated to function at 4 GHz for Wireless Application. The parametric study also has been conducted using 1, 2…..16 elements of the microstrip array. Centre to centre distance between patch elements is 0.5λ. The characteristic analyses such as return loss (RL), radiation pattern of the antenna array have been investigated. RL of -22.439666 dB and antenna gain of 15.13521dBi have been achieved for 16 element flexible microstrip patch array. Simulation processes have been done by Ansoft HFSS 13 electromagnetic simulator.
