A Comparative Study of Physical And Mechanical Behaviour of Neem and SiC Powder Reinforced Metal Matrix Composites

Abstract
In last few decades the scientific approach towards the matrix composites changed significantly due to the doors unlocks in the diversified field of research for composites. In the present study, aluminium metal matrix composites were fabricated using SiC and Neem powder as a reinforcement to understand the influence of process parameters on the distribution of particle in the matrix and the resultant mechanical properties.The composites fabrication is carried by stir casting by first melting the aluminium alloy at the melting temperature in the muffle electric furnace and mixing the Sic and Neem powder with the help of stirrer at certain speed for proper mixing of composite.From the various result obtained it can be concluding that the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength and hardness improve upto 4wt% of the varying reinforcing materials (SiC, Neem powders), but after 4wt% the mechanical properties decreases. From the result it is also shown that good result is found 6wt% of neem and 4wt% of SiC. Keywords - SiC Powder, Neem Powder, Aluminium Alloy, Muffle Electric Furnace
