Computational Study of Thermal Performance Enhancement in Perforated Cylindrical Pin Fin Arrangements

Abstract
Enhancing laminar heat transfer characteristics associated with forced convective air flow over a flat surface equipped with cylindrical perforated pin finsin a rectangular channel of prescribed cross section was the focus of this investigation Computational analysis encompassed several orientation of perforated holes with angle of inclination ranging from 00 to 750 for a constant value of Reynolds Number and pre- fixed geometrical fin spacing. Nusselt Number, skin friction coefficient and angle of perforation with respect to flat surface were the respective thermal, hydraulic and geometrical performance parameters obtained from computational modeling. Computational results were validated against no fin base plate case.Optimal heat transfer and skin friction coefficient value were ascribed topin fin arrangements having through hole at450inclinations, beyond which the thermal characteristics deteriorated while the hydraulic ones improved.
