Paper Title
What does Biden Administration Imply for Narendra Modi’s India?

Abstract
The age of globalization has made it pertinent for all the countries to engage in strategic cooperation with each other in order to play a bigger role on the global stage. With the United States of America being the super power, the competence of India in proving its potentiality to be its significant partner in order to play a bigger role on the global stage and to be a rising power in Indo-Pacific region remains pivotal. India and US relations have had several impediments during the cold war era with Nehru determined to lead India play a major role in world politics instead of being mere supporter of the superpowers and the United States being alarmed with India cocking a snook at expanding Soviet Communism. Nonetheless, India and the United States have gained triumph over earlier impediments, which led to a substantial strengthened Indo-US relationship in areas of economic, military as well as diplomacy. A reinforced Indo-US Partnership has led both the nations advance their shared interests in combating terrorism, in defense industrial cooperation, uplifting democracy along with supervising regional security issues. Moreover, the rising China threat has always been profound to the US, which made India’s partnership all the more crucial in combating the China threat as a rising superpower in Asia-Pacific region as well as a rising global power in the world. This article provides a comprehensive insight into the present Indo-US equation under the Trump administration and what would probably be India’s future under Biden-Harris administration with shading light on whose administration in the US would have been envisioned by Narendra Modi. A closer Indo-US relationship under Donald Trump’s administration has been witnessed owing to his closer bond to the incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders have over the past four years have maintained a closer yet strategic India-USA partnership of transactional nature. Nevertheless, even if it would have been beneficial for India to have Trump assuming the US Presidency since it has already invested in him yet his unpredictable approach would have made the future of both the nations incredulous. Concisely, the Trump Presidency was beneficial for Modi since the last four years India has witnessed his growing political power and his intensified Hindutva agenda all of which may not had been possible under Obama or Clinton administration. With Joseph Biden gaining the US Presidential victory, India may have few areas of convergence with the US especially in economic and defense areas along with combating the China threat and few areas of divergence especially in Pakistan and Kashmir issue. With Modi’s majoritarian agenda being at stake it is pertinent to analyze what lies ahead for India under Biden-Harris administration.
