Energy Efficiency in IoT using NDN (Named Data Network)

Abstract
In the IoT ecosystem, the exchange among content supply and energy use is critical. In this paper, we focus on an information-centric networking model and pro-pose a distributed caching-based energy-saving solution for IoT material. Using RIOT-OS, we apply a variety of caching and replacement approaches to the NDN protocol. We conducted various tests on actual IoT hardware in a network of fifty nodes in order to show how caching strategies can reduce energy consumption while still reserving the supply of IoT material.
