A Comprehensive Framework for Road Accident Detection and Response using Intelligent Visual Surveillance

With the rising hazard of road accidents, the immediate response becomes the deciding factor between life and death. We propose a comprehensive intelligent visual surveillance system to detect road accidents and notify the concerned authorities. The cameras would see and understand their environment instantly and report to concerned users in case of events that need attention. The proposed system provides real-time triggers to emergency services and security forces when the intelligent surveillance system detects any road accidents that need attention. Road traffic crashes rank as the ninth leading cause of death and accounts for 2.2 percentage of all deaths globally. We have too many cameras and too few human monitors to analyze the events is at stake if the attention levels of the human monitors degenerate to unacceptable levels. We aspire to improve the reliability of the surveillance system so that it could ensure maximum human benefit and security.
