Paper Title
A MULTI-CRITERIA ANALYSIS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A GREEN & SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL PRODUCTION BASE IN INDIA

Abstract
Abstract - The emissions from the aviation sector are the hardest to abate as the alternate propulsion technologies are still immature. Accordingly, the the bulk of the burden of climate impact mitigation of the aviation sector, in the short-, mid- and probably in the long-term also, has to be borne by the use of synthetic fuels (including SAF). Considering that the production of SAF is governed by feedstock availability and sustainability concerns, this paper has therefore identified availability of feedstock that can be drawn sustainably for production of SAF, assessed the most suitable technological pathways to do so and has evaluated the quantum of SAF that can be produced in India. Considering that the global aviation-fuel requirement in 2050 could be 450 billion litres, India could contribute 9 to 21% of this requirement by leveraging its potential.
