The Values of Bilingual Education Policy in Indonesia: Indonesian with English Language Perspectives
Abstract
Policies related to Indonesian language education play an important role in the progress of society and the state. However, the current globalization demands a bilingual education policy, that is the use of Indonesian with English as a guide to education in Indonesia. Various problems arise as a result of the policy, but on the other hand, this policy holds positive values that will be studied in more depth in this article. The purpose of this article is to describe the concept of bilingual education policy in Indonesia and identify the values contained in the bilingual education policy in Indonesia. This article uses qualitative methods with library research techniques through stages including collection, classification, analysis, interpretation, and conclusion. The results of this article represent that there is value in preserving national identity, establishing multicultural learning interactions, and supporting the internationalization of educational institutions contained in bilingual education policies in Indonesia.
