A Study of Common Rural Livestock Diseases in Thikri and Dhamnod Town of Barwani&Dhar District (Nimar Division), M.P. (India).
Abstract
India possess huge livestock population, which is endangered by different endemic infectious Diseases (bacterial, viral, protozoan and parasitic), which collectively causes significant economic losses to the landless poor farming community.The present research was conducted for the assessment of various common livestock/ruminant diseases in dhamnod and thikri town, repectively of dhar&barwani district from april 2023 – january 2024.During the study period the total no.of collected data was 2000 cases in dhamnod region and 1950 cases in thikri region , which reveals that pneumonia , trypanosomiasis , parvo viral disease , diarrhoea , hematuria / babesiosis , tick (ecto – parasite) , scabies , mestitis , foot and mouth disease (fmd) , black quarter , haemorrhagicsepticaemia (hs) , anthrax , rabies (mad dog) , fascioliasis and fever(heat stroke) are some common diseases which are mostly found in the rural ruminants and livestock population like buffalo , cow , sheep , goat , buck , bullock , b.calf , c.calf , dog , cat , hen & camel etc.
The study also reveals about some diseases like tuberclosis , milk fever , coccidosis , pox , fascioliasis , , theileriosis , blue tongue , peste – de – petits (ppr) , black quarter , brucellosis , listeriosis , foot rot , calf scour , which are not so common in this region but yearly some cases are reported . There are several diseases which affects the production of animals, human health, trade of livestock and animal products, as result of which the overall economic development is affected.So, this study was carried out to find out the total no. Of diseases by which the livestock population is mostly affected and threatened, and also to find out that what measures, prevention, treatment and control methods can be used to overcome from the risk of this diseases.
