Paper Title
Bikers SOS: Smart Tech for Safer Rides
Abstract
This research paper presents a novel Bike Crash Alert System (BCAS) designed to enhance the safety of bicyclists by leveraging a combination of accelerometer, GPS, and GSM technologies. As cycling gains popularity as a mode of transportation and recreation, concerns about rider safety have become paramount. BCAS integrates a highly sensitive accelerometer to monitor sudden decelerations or impacts, thus identifying potential bike crashes. Upon detection of a crash event, BCAS utilizes GPS technology to pinpoint the exact location of the incident. Subsequently, GSM communication is employed to promptly notify emergency services or pre-designated contacts with the precise accident coordinates. The system's architecture, algorithmic approach, and hardware implementation are thoroughly detailed in this paper. Experimental results demonstrate the system's efficiency in detecting bike crashes accurately and initiating rapid response measures, significantly improving the safety and well-being of cyclists on the road. BCAS represents a significant step towards a safer and more secure cycling environment in the era of smart transportation systems.
