THE ENVIRONMENT, PSYCHOLOGY AND MENTAL WELLBEING: UNDERSTANDING THE INTERCONNECTIONS
Abstract
The intricate relationships between the environment, psychology, and mental wellbeing are multifaceted and profoundly impactful. This study examines the dynamic interconnections between environmental factors, psychological processes, and mental health outcomes. By integrating insights from ecological psychology, environmental neuroscience, and public health, this research investigates how: Environmental degradation and climate change influence mental health, psychological factors (stress, cognition, emotions) interact with environmental exposures and natural environments and green spaces foster mental wellbeing. Findings underscore the critical role of environmental considerations in mental health promotion, intervention, and policy. This research informs strategies for mitigating environmental psychological distress, promoting eco-therapies, and cultivating sustainable mental wellbeing.
