AUTOMATED API RULE TRANSFER USING GENAI: A SCALABLE SOLUTION FOR API GATEWAYS
Abstract
API management platforms such as Apigee and Gravitee play a crucial role in modern enterprise architectures by providing centralized management of API policies, security rules, and routing configurations. However, manual transfer of these API rules between different gateways is labor-intensive, errorprone, and lacks standardization, leading to inefficiencies and increased operational risks. This research introduces an automated solution leveraging Google Cloud’s Vertex AI to transform and migrate API rules between Gravitee and Apigee. The proposed architecture employs a Spring Boot service orchestrating the transfer, extracting rules from Gravitee, transforming them using Vertex AI models, and deploying them seamlessly to Apigee. This automation minimizes manual interventions, reduces errors by over 80%, and enhances deployment speed by 60%. The solution is designed to be scalable, adaptable for various API platforms, and capable of evolving to handle complex rule sets, thereby revolutionizing API rule management. This paper details the design, implementation, and evaluation of the solution, along with the implications for large-scale deployments.
