AACM: ADAPTIVE APPROXIMATE COMPRESSOR FOR MULTIPLIERS

Abstract
An developing paradigm called approximate computing aims to improve speed, area optimization, and power economy in image processing applications that can handle a certain amount of in accuracy. In order to reduce error in the corresponding partial product columns, this paper offers a unique multiplier architecture that makes use of an algorithm to adaptively select an approximation compressor from a set of recently proposed and existing compressors. In addition, a simple error-correcting module is used to reduce any inaccuracy arising from the approximation in the suggested multiplier. It shows that the 8-bit multiplier's power consumption and delay are enhanced by as much as 50.4% and 19.70%, respectively, when compared to an exact multiplier and area, power and delay by 2.96%,20.6% and 7.9% respectively, when compared to comparable previous designs. The AACM is validated through image processing todemonstrate its efficacy.
