Securing the Ballot: Exploring Blockchain Technology in Modern Election Systems

Abstract
Over the past decade, the transition from traditional paper ballots to electronic voting has gathered momentum, although its adoption has been tempered by challenges related to security, credibility, transparency, reliability, and functionality which compromise public trust in their accuracy and fairness. Blockchain-based e-voting platforms offer a compelling solution to these issues by taking advantage of a decentralised architecture which guarantees immutability of data and robust security. The primary objective of this paper is to provide an in depthreview of recent advancements in blockchain based voting systems, evaluating their strengths and limitations. By drawing insights from existing systems, this review identifies key challenges faced , proposing strategies to enhance the design of blockchain-based e-voting platforms. Keywords - Blockchain, Decentralised Architecture, E-Voting, Security.
