Comparative Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) Analysis of Monkey Pox Virus Genomes Strain and Genetic Variation
Abstract
The Monkeypox virus, a significant zoonotic pathogen, causes outbreaks with evidence of human-to-human transmission. This study analyzed Monkeypox virus genomes for genetic diversity, evolutionary trends, and transmission patterns. A reference genome with high accuracy and complete annotations was used for reproducibility. Quality control assessed metrics like missing data, mutation clusters, and private mutations to ensure analysis reliability. Sequence mapping against the reference genome detected nucleotide substitutions, insertions, and deletions with potential functional effects. SNP analysis across four strains visualized genetic variation, distribution, and frequency patterns, aiding in understanding genetic diversity, transmission dynamics, and clade classification.
