Design and Development of a Wireless Physiotherapy Aid: A Smart Approach Towards Rehabilitation

Abstract
Considering the vital nature of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation process, its increasing demand is posing challenges to the already understaffed physiotherapy industry. To address this issue, we are proposing an electromechanical device aimed at aiding patients perform grip strength enhancing physiotherapy exercises on their own. The proposed solution effectively leverages the strengths of low power and fast computing units, simple but efficient wired communication protocols such as I2C as well as wireless protocols such as IEEE 802.11 b/g/n to ensure rigorous monitoring and optimization of data which would make significant improvement in the physiotherapists’ workflow and would result in a seamless rehabilitation journey for the patients. This research project contributes to the advancement of physiotherapy practices by introducing an innovative solution to address the growing demand for rehabilitation services while mitigating therapist workload.
