Paper Title
GENERATIVE AI: A JOURNEY, OVERVIEW AND PROGRAM MANAGER’S COMPANION
Abstract
The field of Generative AI is growing at a very fast pace. Work in this domain has been progressing behind the scenes for years, but since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, massive competition has suddenly emerged in the tech world. Almost every major organization has now launched and is continuously refining its Generative AI models. In this rapidly evolving landscape, knowledge and awareness around Generative AI have not reached the broader audience, which motivated the present work. This tutorial paper bridges that gap by discussing basic concepts of data, the evolution from traditional Machine Learning (ML) models to Generative AI, and a foundational understanding of Generative AI itself. It specifically explores how Program Managers can utilize these technologies to enhance their productivity. The goal is to help beginners in this field gain a broader view and understanding of ML concepts, ML models, and Generative AI. Designed to assist early learners and non-experts, this work also highlights responsible AI practices and global governance efforts that shape the ethical use of Generative AI in the real world.
