Role of Alternative Healing Practices in Managing Psychological Stress: A Comparative Study of Mind-Body Interventions
Abstract
Psychological stress, anxiety and depression also pose a serious problem to the overall health of the people and need easy and effective therapeutic interventions other than the conventional pharmaceutical approach. The study explores how alternative healing methods, i.e. mind-body therapies, affect psychological stress under a comparative, descriptive, and analytical research methodology. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative methods to examine stress patterns, coping strategies, and perceived benefits of mind-body activities. A sample of 150 respondents was used to collect primary data using standardised psychological instruments to measure perceived stress, anxiety, and overall psychological well-being, supplemented by qualitative data on lived experiences. The statistical analysis, regression analysis, and correlation techniques demonstrated a significant positive effect of psychosomatictreatments on psychological stress and a significant correlation between intervention engagement and stress levels. The findings also show substantial variation in individuals' stress patterns and the application of psychosomatic techniques. The study highlights mind-body therapies as effective, adaptive, and long-lasting approaches to managing psychological stress and recommends their integration into preventive mental health initiatives.
