Effect of Garbh-Sanskarduring Antenatal Period on Pregnanacy Outcomes: Review

Abstract
Garbh-sanskar(alterantivelyGarbothsavSanskar or Garbha Sanskar), is an ancient centuries-old Ayuvedic practice prevalent in the Indian Subcontinent. Decoding this term- ‘Garbh’ means the womb and ‘Sanskar’ means instilling values. It assimilated physical, mental, spiritual health of the mother and the foetus by optimising the caring techniques during the antenatal period. It's been a long-standing tradition across the region. Before the advent of the advanced medical techniques, this technique has said to bore excellent results, maintaining and improving the health of both the mother and the foetus. This literature synthesis various research finding from the ancient Ayurvedic texts, modern investigations, trying to research the relevance of incorporating traditional techniques into modern-day healthcare. The findings including multiple individual studies have deduced that indeed including GarbothsavSanskar into modern day parenting leads to better neonatal health (Poswal), (Sunanda et al.). However, it still needs to be studied better with controlled, large-scale studies. To better understand the effects of this practice, this literature review highlights the need for increased and better-controlled studies to further support the claim.
