DESIGN AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF MAIN SHAFT FOR SUGARCANE JUICE EXTRACTION MACHINE

Abstract
This paper focuses on the design and structural analysis of main shaft for sugarcane juice extraction machine. A very high stress is affected at the end near the frictionless support of the main shaft. The design and static structural analysis of the main shaft are presented by changing three different materials (ASTMA 220-99, ASTMA 536-84, and Bronze C54400). The length of the main shaft was 315 mm, and the calculated diameter of the shaft was 16 mm by using the ASME code equation. In the theoretical and numerical analysis, the minimum von-Mises stress and effective strain are found on ASTMA 220-99 cast iron by using ANSYS 17.0 software. Thus, ASTMA 220-99 cast iron is more suitable than the other two materials for main shaft. Keywords - MainShaft, Sugarcane JuiceMachine, Structural Analysis.
