Sustainable Business Management through Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Practices: An Interdisciplinary Socio-Ethical Examination of Ethical Leadership, Stakeholder Engagement, and Long-Term Organizational Sustainability

Abstract
In recent years, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices have emerged as a vital framework for sustainable business management. While traditional management approaches prioritize financial performance and shareholder value, contemporary business environments increasingly emphasize ethical accountability, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship. This study examines ESG practices from a socio-ethical perspective, integrating business management principles with human values and ethical insights drawn from the humanities. The research explores how ESG adoption influences sustainable business performance while addressing broader societal concerns such as social equity, environmental justice, stakeholder inclusivity, and ethical governance. Using secondary data from Indian listed companies and sustainability disclosures, the study analyses the relationship between ESG implementation and organizational sustainability outcomes. It further examines ethical dimensions including corporate moral responsibility, transparency, and long-term societal impact, which are often underrepresented in purely financial analyses. The findings indicate that firms with strong ESG practices exhibit enhanced stakeholder trust, improved corporate reputation, and greater long-term strategic resilience. From a humanities perspective, ESG extends beyond compliance to represent a human-centric approach to business management that aligns organizational objectives with societal well-being. This study contributes to interdisciplinary research by demonstrating how ethical reasoning and social responsibility can strengthen sustainable business strategies, offering valuable insights for policymakers, corporate managers, investors, and academics.
