Solvothermal Decomposition of Delaminated Transition Metal Doped Layered Zinc Hydroxysalts: Formation of Doped Nanocrystalline Zinc Oxide
Abstract
Transition metal doped zinc hydroxynitrates could be anion exchanged to get dodecylsulphate-intercalated doped zinc hydroxysalts, Zn5-xMx (OH)8(DS)2⋅mH2O that delaminate to give monolayer colloidal dispersions in organic solvents such as ethylene glycol. The solvothermal decomposition of the colloidal dispersions of the doped hydroxysalts in ethylene glycol gives transition metal doped nanocrystalline ZnO. The incorporation of dopant ions into zinc hydroxysalt layers as well as ZnO lattice can be confirmed by the change in the lattice constants.
