Design and Analysis of Adjustable Welding Work Piece Holder

Abstract
The Adjustable Welding Work piece Holder is an auxiliary welding device designed to securely hold welding work pieces, such as plates and hollow steel sections, during the welding process. This tool was developed to address several existing issues, including musculoskeletal disorders commonly experienced among welders due to improper working postures. In addition, conventional work piece holder available in the market are typically fixed and difficult to adjust in position. Another significant issue is that welders often require assistance from a second person to hold the work piece during welding, which increases overall operation time and reduces efficiency. Several approaches were undertaken to overcome these challenges. These include designing a holder with adjustable positioning based on user requirements, analyzing the design to enhance its functionality in supporting the work piece, and fabricating the proposed product. To evaluate whether the tool effectively meets its intended objectives, its performance and usability were assessed. The primary aim of this research is to develop a welding work piece holder that provides welders with greater control over positional adjustments, while improving convenience and ergonomic comfort during welding operations.
