THE ROLE OF CYBERSECURITY IN SAFEGUARDING PERSONAL DATA IN DIGITAL ENVIRONMENTS

Abstract
Digital data has become an integral part of our daily lives, flowing incessantly between individuals, government entities, and private institutions. This shift has propelled data protection and privacy to the forefront of global legal and social priorities. Today, individuals interact daily with numerous electronic systems requiring the disclosure of personal identifiers, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and email accounts. This study examines the role of cybersecurity in safeguarding personal data within digital environments. Adopting a descriptive-analytical methodology, the research highlights how cybersecurity serves as a critical line of defense by providing the technical mechanisms necessary to prevent breaches and data leaks. The study recommends strengthening the integration between legal and technical dimensions through enhanced collaboration between cybersecurity authorities and legislative bodies.
