Paper Title
Response Mitigation of Structures Using Liquid Column Vibration Absorber Considering Real Earthquake Ground Motions
Abstract
The performance of Liquid Column Absorber (LCVA) to mitigate structural vibrations considering different real
earthquake time history data is investigated in this paper. To evaluate the significance of the parameters like mass ratio,
frequency tuning ratio, length ratio, and area ratio, on the effectiveness of the LCVA for different earthquakes, a similar
parametric analysis is performed using a time domain method. The result of the study shows that LCVA is very much
effective in reducing the structural response to seismic excitations and the parameters play significant role in the
performance of LCVA and some of them are also sensitive to the nature of the excitation.
