Paper Title
Study of Change in Mechanical and Durability Properties of Cement Mortar With Steel Fibres
Abstract
Cement mortar posses very low tensile strength, limited ductility and little resistance to cracking. Addition of small closely spaced, uniformly distributed fibers act as crack arrester, substantially increase static & dynamic properties with increasing water content bleeding, plastic shrinkage and reduction in strength will occur. With decreasing water content hydration process is incomplete, increase in gel/ space ratio will happens. By adding plasticizers and other chemicals for workability & to achieve strength will act temporarily. To come across these two problems by the addition of small amount of fibers effectively control early age plastic shrinkage & cracking.
It is generally acknowledged that steel fibers are added to improve the toughness, abrasion resistance and impact strength. In this work, the mechanical and Durability properties of cement mortar by adding 1%, 2% steel fibres by weight of cement and sand are studied and compared with the control mix.
