Paper Title
Impact of EECP Therapy on Health-Related Quality of Life in Diabetic and Non-Diabetic Coronary Heart Disease Patients
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease are most common lifestyle-related disease and affect Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) of the patients worldwide. This study was conducted to evaluate the quality of life of coronary heart disease with and without diabetes mellitus patients. This prospective observational study was conducted on coronary heart disease with and without diabetes mellitus patients (n=200) referred to SAAOL Heart Center, New Delhi from May 2016 to Nov 2016. The study subjects were divided into two groups. Patients having coronary heart disease without diabetes mellitus were enrolled into the first group and patients having coronary heart disease with diabetes mellitus enrolled in the second group. The quality of life of study subjects was measured by Short Form - 36 (SF-36) standard questionnaires. The results were analyzed through IBM, SPSS software and mean; SD, paired sample t- test and P-value were evaluated at pre and post EECP therapy. This study showed significant improvement in HRQoL of coronary heart disease with and without diabetes mellitus patients. The quality of life of coronary heart disease with diabetes mellitus patients showed more improvement compared to patients only having coronary heart disease. Hence, EECP is an effective noninvasive therapy for treatment of coronary heart disease with diabetes control and management.
