Paper Title
Fault Analysis of Underground Cable by Stationary Wavelet Technology

Abstract
Discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) is a practice when it comes to wavelet transformation. But DWT has many drawbacks such as, it lacks translation Invariance. Therefore, if any signal is rotated then it will not retain the properties of original signal. And also classical DWT is not shift invariant, this means DWT of translated version of signal x is not the same as the DWT of original signal. Hence to overcome these disadvantages, a technique for analysing the phase with the fault appearance in underground transmission lines is proposed. Here, Stationary wavelet Transform has been employed to extract high frequency components which are superimposed on fault signals simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The coefficients obtained from the wavelet transform are used in identifying the phase with fault. It is found that the proposed method can indicate the fault types with satisfactory accuracy. A ‘Stationary Wavelet Transform’ where the coefficient sequences are decimated at each stage is described. Index Terms - Wavelet Transformer, MATLAB/SIMULINK, SWT, Fault analysis, Underground cables.
