Paper Title
A Recent Survey and Analysis of Most Deadly DOS Attacks
Abstract
Excessive use of Internet and network based information resources on a global scale has also led to the rise in wide range of security attacks. One such attack is a DoS attack, which comes in two forms, a single source DOS attack and multiple source DoS attack (DDOS attack). The motive of both the attacks (resource exhaustion) is achieved by generating malicious traffic towards the victim in large numbers. The scale of traffic generated is what differentiates the single source and multiple source DoS attacks. This paper presents a look at the present of the most frequently occurring DoS Attacks in the recent year’s i.e. UDP Flooding, ICMP Flooding, NTP Amplification, DNS Reflector and TCP-SYN attack. The state of every attack in recent years is analysed and discussed in the paper. The most lethal DoS attack is also identified from the group based on the frequency of occurrence during the recent years.
