Design of Patch Antenna for Wban Application

Abstract
The growth of modern wireless system has pushed the designer to design miniaturized antenna. Among the various types of antenna microstrip patch antenna plays an important role in miniaturization. Also, the selection of the most suitable substrate for an antenna is a matter of prime importance. The substrate properties such as dielectric constant, loss tangent have a pronounced effect on the antenna characteristics. This paper presents the comparative analysis of testing and simulated result of return loss, VSWR, gain and directivity of a I shape slot antenna for FR 4 substrates with dielectric constants of 4.4. The I shape microstrip antenna fed by coaxial feed is designed at ISM band (2.4GHz) for body area network applications. Keywords - Antenna Design, coaxial feed, WBAN
