Paper Title
A Comparative Study of Concentrically Braced Frames for Seismic Force
Abstract
The present study has been performed on steel frame models of 5, 15 and 25 storey. The frames are symmetrical and have been concentrically braced as per IS: 800-2007. The following bracing configurations were studied and compared: Cross Bracing, Diagonal Bracing, Inverted-V Bracingand Unbraced frame. The frame structures were modelled and analyzed in STAAD. Pro V8i. The frames were modelled having 5 bays of 3m along 15m side and 3 bays of 3m along 9m side. The performance of each frame was studied under Response Spectrum Analysis for zone IV and conclusions were drawn on the basis of the results obtained. It was found that the story drift in the Cross braced frames was the least thus showing that it provides better serviceability conditions.
