A Study of Edutainment (Computer Games and Animation) for Personality Development & Social Development of Adolescents of Chhattisgarh
Abstract
The present study was an experimental research in which the scholar tried to find out the interaction and cause-effect relationship of different variables (independent variable – teaching through traditional method and teaching through edutainment programme & dependent variable – effectiveness of edutainment programme on the personality and social development of the adolescent students of Class XI of Government Higher Secondary School, Naimed in Bijapur District in Chhattisgarh) on each other and their level of influence. The study was conducted in the the rural areas of Chhattisgarh. 48 students of class XI were selected and they were equally divided into control group and experimental group (24 each in both these groups). Pre-Test and Post-Test were conducted for both groups. The post-test result of both control group and experimental group & the pre-test and post test results of experimental group were tabulated and statistical analysis was done using t-test and ANOVA to check levels of interaction between different variables and to test the significance of research hypotheses. The study proved that means of edutainment like computer games, computer animation and simulation, used in teaching listening skill, consisting of watching T V News and Mime, participating in Computer Games and Animation & Group Discussion, were successful in accelerating the personality and social development of adolescent students of Class XI of Government Higher Secondary School, Naimed in Bijapur District in Chhattisgarh. The level of personality and social development was more after using means of edutainment like Computer games, computer animation and simulation to teach communication skills.
