Paper Title
Preliminary Phytochemical Screening, Ultraviolet and Infrared Spectroscopy of Ethanolic Flower Extract of Thevetia Peruviana (Pers.) Thevetia Yellow

Abstract
Thevetia peruviana (Pers.) is one of the important medicinal as well as ornamental plant belongs to the dogbane family Apocynaceae and commonly known as yellow oleander. The cardiac glycosides obtained from bark, kernals and flowers are useful for heart diseases. The results of phytochemical screening of ethanolic flower extract of Thevetia Yellow indicates the presence of alkaloids, flavanoids , glycosides - cardiac glycosides , phenolic compounds, tannins , phytosterols , carbohydrates , proteins and amino acids. The fixed oils, fats, gums and mucilages were totally absent .The UV and IR spectroscopy reveals the presence of carbonyl group, amides, lactams, nitro and sulfur compounds .They also shows the presence of Indole alkaloids (Reserpine, voacamine, aricine) and flavonoids (flavones, flavanol, quercetin , sodium salt of quercetin 5‘sulfonic acid [NaQSA], myricetin, fistein and kampferol 3-o-robinoside 7-o-rhamnoside) which are mainly contributed in the medicinal utility of the plant. Keywords - Thevetia peruviana (Pers.), Phytochemical Screening, Ultraviolet and Infrared Spectroscopy.
