Making Transportation Easy for Visually Impaired People
Abstract
Transportation is an unavoidable human chore. There are many means of transportation that a person would choose to travel. Modern day advancements in communication enables a person to choose his means of transportation through a smartphone. However, most smartphones do not serve their ideal functionalities to a visually impaired person. This paper demonstrates a voice-assisted system that uses GPS modules along with machine learning algorithms such as object detection and speech recognition algorithms, to provide a transportation service for a visually impaired person. The goal is to guide the user to a safe pickup point and contact a transportation service provider by providing the details of the user with location.
