Paper Title
Technology in Language Learning – Are Smartphones Useful in ESL Classes?

Abstract
This study is about the use of smartphones in language learning classrooms in a public university. There are a lot of research papers speaking volumes about how to use mobiles phones in ESL classrooms. Therefore, ESL/EFL teachers are advised to use different strategies to make learning enjoyable and using mobile phones is one such tool. However, the not so enjoyable part of technology in classrooms is the assessment part which puts both the teachers and students under stress. At the end of the semester, no such improvement has been noticed among the students. This study is a conscious observation of student behavior in language learning classrooms and based on the observations across four different classrooms, it is found that the use of smartphones in language learning classroom did not show any visible improvement in students language acquisition process.
