A Control Scheme for UPQC for Power Quality Improvement

Abstract
Power quality is a set of electrical boundaries that allows a piece of equipment to function in its intended manner without significant loss of performance or life expectancy. The power quality issues in distribution power systems are not novel, but awareness of these issues has been recently heightened. One of the modern solutions that deal with load current and supply voltage is the Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC). UPQC is still in the research and development phase, but is very promising. This paper investigates the performance of current with and without UPQC. The proposal of control scheme gives better steady-state and dynamic response. The validity of the proposed control method is verified by means of MATLAB/SIMULINK. Keywords - Custom Power Devices, Power Quality and UPQC
