Automated Fodder Feeding System for Stall Fed Goats/Sheep
Abstract
The growing need for by-products of goats/sheep by consumers has urged the necessity for small and medium scale industries to meet up the rising demand especially in the developing countries. Goats nowadays do not possess the nutrients that the market requires. Thus, stall fed goat farming has been extensively used where the goats are not allowed to graze in open fields. In this project work, an effort has been done to develop an automated fodder feeding system for the stall fed goats/sheep to reduce the labour, time and to optimize the feeding. The fodder is selected depending upon the breed, different age groups and several other factors. The feed is fed in a continuous manner. Many people still follow the conventional method of feeding because of which the goats tend to get attacked by bacteria, predators etc., which results in low productivity. Thus, incorporating this automated fodder feeding system will definitely help in achieving better results in terms of labour, time as well as meat. This paper consists of the detailed design of the system and the methodology used for the development of the same.
