Paper Title
Implications of Gender Budgeting on Gender Equality in Indian Context

Abstract
Gender equality is more than a goal in itself. It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good governance. ---- Kofi Annan India is one of the fastest growing countries all over the world with a GDP growth rate of 7.4% in year 2017. The high rates of growth can only be sustained when all sections of the society grows together irrespective of caste, class, creed, race and gender. Gender inequality has remained neglected for long in the planning process for economic development. It is also one of the unsettled issues in the country like poverty and unemployment. Females are the most vulnerable in every sphere of life and compromises at various fronts for the existence and survival. Equal contribution of women in the development process would make the country grow much faster. Nevertheless, it would not be out of space to mention here that sustainable development goals may address the key challenge of inequality and violence against women. Government intervention is much needed as no goal would be achieved without monetary assistance for attaining any goal. Various policies and programmes are framed in the past for the successful achievement of such goals. Budgetary assistance remained the basis of such development agendas. Every nation plan and allocate resources to fulfil some of its aspirations. The objective of the budget is to serve these aspirations. Policy planning and budget allocation takes place for the successful implementation of the desired objectives. One of the prerequisite is that policy planning and budgetary allocation should be complimentary. So there would be planned objectives of the nation and budget allocation would operate as a mobilizing factor of the required resources for funding different programs.
