Design of Series Active Filter for Power Quality Enhancement of Smart Households by using MATLAB Simulink

At consumer side the voltage sag and harmonics are the main power quality problems which decreases the life of sensitive electrical and electronic equipment of customers. Hence it is new challenge to propose new technology to improve the power quality at the household area without disturbing other power system area. In household, no of electronic equipment’s are used which will produce harmonic affects the power quality problems. In this paper, the hybrid series active filter is used at the distribution area in conjunction with multilevel converter to suppress the harmonics and provide additional supply to provide reliable and clean operation of power system by using MATLAB software. The behaviour of the voltage and current by using proposed technology with linear and nonlinear load is observed on MATLAB software.
