Paper Title
Design and Simulation Study of Drug-Eluting Stents for Treating Hepatic Artery Stenosis Post Liver Transplantation

Abstract
Hepatocellular Carcinomais amongst the most common cancers worldwide, accounting for nearly 1 million deaths annually. Early diagnosis would help in treating with chemotherapy and ablative techniques but with most of the liver being affected, only transplantation would be a choice of treatment. Apparently after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) an issue of Hepatic Artery Stenosis (HAS) can occur which would later lead to Hepatic Artery Thrombosis (HAT), with subsequent liver failure in 30% of patients. Although operative intervention or retransplantation has been the traditional solution, endovascular therapy has emerged as a less invasive treatment strategy which would include placing stents. In this paper we would discuss about designing a MEMS based drug eluting stent and its simulation study using Comsol Multiphysics to understand how HAS could be treated.
