Rare Earth Gd3+ Doping in PMN and Plztperovskite Ceramics System for Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties

Abstract
Gadolinium (Gd) was doped in Lead Magnesium Niobate(PMN) and Lead Lanthanum Zirconium Titanate (PLZT)perovskite ceramic systems:(i) PGMN: Gd doped PMN: Pb1-xGdx(Mg1/3Nb2/3)1-x/4O3and (ii) PLGZT: Gd doped PLZT: [Pb0.987-yLa0.013Gdy][Zr0.528Ti0.472]0.99675-(y/4)O3] synthesized through columbite precursor method and mixed oxide methods, respectively. Gd was varied from 0, 0.5 and 1 mol%. The perovskite systems were characterized for X-ray diffraction, tolerance factor, microstructure, dielectric and piezoelectric properties.
