Seismic Analysis of RC Structures with Varying Percentage of Diaphragm Discontinuity without and with Shear Walls
Earthquakes are the reasons for the collapse of buildings by causing negative effect on the environment. Earthquakes occur at the location of weak structures, now a day; the openings are common for buildings like lifts, lightings and also for architectural purposes. The aim of the project is to show the performance of the buildings with diaphragm openings using ETABS. The stability and supportability capacity can be enhanced by the proper location of openings in the buildings. Diaphragm discontinuities are done for the locations like, corners, centre and in periphery, etc. The analysis is done for each case using ETABS software.
In this present study, seismic analysis of RC framed structures on varying percentage of diaphragm openings as 0 (without opening), 11.11, 22.22 and 44.44 % by considering with and without shear walls for various cases have been discussed for the multistory building of G+9 story with an earthquake intensity of 0.16 (Zone III), and analysis is carryout for Equivalent Static analysis (ESA) and Response spectrum analysis (RSA) as per IS 1893-2002 (Part 1) using ETABS. The obtained results for seismic parameters such as base shear, story shear, story displacement and story drift ratios for both ESA & RSA are discussed.
