Compact Ultra-wideband Microstrip Patch Antenna
Abstract
A compact ultra-wideband (UWB) monopole rectangular microstrip patch antenna with high gain is designed, simulated and analyzed. The proposed antenna having a very compact dimension of 24 mm × 35 mm × 1.6 mm is compatible and highly suitable for compact wireless systems and any UWB application. The proposed antenna exhibits -10 dB impedance bandwidth of 12 GHz (3 GHz-15 GHz) with multiple operating frequencies at 3.5 GHz, 6 GHz, 10.6 GHz and 13 GHz. A peak antenna gain of 4.7 dBi is achieved. VSWR of the proposed antenna is in between 1 and 2 in the entire operating band with low cross polarization with stable radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is simulated by using CST Microwave Studio software.
