Computational Study to Investigate Equivalence Ratio Effect on Premix Methane Air Combustion and NOx Formation

Low Swirl premix Stabilized methane air Flame was investigated by numerical simulation using fluent 14. Equivalence ratio on premix methane air flame was studied using standard k-ϵ two step model with eddy dissipation turbulence chemistry interaction. With varying equivalence ratio and swirl number from 0.6 to 1.4 and 0.5 to 0.8 respectively. Parameter like velocity, temperature, NO mass fraction was investigated and validated with experimental results and found good. Study reveals that the NO formation depend upon the equivalence ratio of mixing and swirl number of the combustion without changing the stability of the flame.
