However, many solar projects are still under implementation. To bridge up these gaps India still needs $500billion investment required to reach 2030 renewable energy target. India presently has received approximately $42bn investment since 2014.This research work examines that what are the actual factors are hampering the approved projects, tenders. Despite of various government policies, schemes such as Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), etc. other initiatives India still holding 5th position globally.Presently in India, the cost of 1 MW projects around 3 to 3.5 crore which is totally dependent on various factors such as land, location, PV technologies, design consideration etc. Thus, this paper reviews Successful Business Models across the Globe (China, USA, Germany) for Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant Business including current challenges being faced by the industry.Referring the insights from various studies, this paper provides the suitable business model for India that is ex: modified RESCO model which will help India to gear up to increase its solar energy production in the small to medium sector and leads its way to become huge rising economy in the world.
