A Study on the Importance of different Quality Assurance Factors in Fashion Technology Courses

Abstract
Quality assurance includes all processes and procedures that are focussed on ensuring that products and services meet or exceed consumer expectations. It's a systematic technique that includes defined processes for defining and achieving objectives.Higher education (HE) institutions in India are currently under increasing pressure from the stakeholders to providebetter quality education.The purpose of this study is to identify quality assurance factors for fashion technology courses in the context of higher education institutions (HEIs) in India. From the review of literature on quality assurance parameters in higher education, ten broad categories of factors were identified. Data were collected from the faculty members of different institutions conducting fashion technology courses in Tamilnadu, India. The sample of the study included 162 faculty members of different institutions offering fashion technology courses. The importance of different quality assurance factors was assessed on scale of 1 to 5. Quality assurance parameters considered in this study included Resources (Students, Faculty, Infrastructure), Education Management, Instructional Planning & Delivery, Assessment & Evaluation, Student learning outcomes, Learning experiences, Professional Attributes, and Skill Sets. The study used statistical measurement techniques like relative importance index (RII) to measure the relative importance of each of the quality assurance parameters. In addition, different statistical tests like frequency and percentage analysis, descriptive statistics, Various efforts are undertaken rigorously for ensuring quality assurance in higher educational institutions across the country. Quality assurance must become an integral element of institutional management and planning, according to the overall conclusion. Quality assurance methods must evolve in tandem with higher education, or they will become obsolete. It's a lengthy process that needs consistent effort.The findings of this study can be utilised to measure the quality assurance parameters in higher education institutions. More precisely, the outcome may be utilised by higher education institutions to gauge the level of importance of different quality assurance factors as perceived by faculty members.
